On Sunday 6th September, a handful of club members were out on the Dengie supporting Chelmsford Motor Club with their inaugural Dengie 100 Targa, a road rally mixing 40 miles on private land and 60 miles on public roads. Some club members may remember the ‘Essex Charity Stages’ which was a rally that used to be run down on the Dengie; well thanks to the cooperation and kind permission of a number of landowners, Chelmsford Motor Club were able to run this new event down there.
They reached out for assistance from us to provide marshals with access to 4×4 vehicles and we had 10 individuals who volunteered their time to head down and support the event to run. It saw 47 competitors take part with a few less finishing due to some mechanical issues during the day; however it seemed they all enjoyed themselves, and the weather was kind to us all.
