Road Taxed Vehicle Trials
These are a set of trials designed for the Road Taxed Vehicles and a full driving license is required to compete. They are set up to be non-damaging (unless driven extremely recklessly) and should be drivable by standard production vehicles, although many people fit added extras to their vehicles. These can be roll-cages, mud terrain tyres, protection bars etc.
The RTV trials are generally harder than the Tyro trials and have steeper slopes, greter degrees of side slope and can have deeper water. Scoring is carried out in exactly the same manner.
If you do think that your vehicle may get damaged, either do not start that section (and take a 12) or stop before the damaging bit.
You will not be looked down on at all.
It is your car and your expense to fix if you bend anything, so you don't have to prove to everybody that you can bend your vehicle with the best of the CCVer's.
Everybody has different views on the “non damaging” section and many people do have to go to work in their competition motor the next day.
Generally, the larger clubs who have a more competitive spirit (and a much larger number of competitors) define a non-damaging course as one in that if you get a clear you have driven it properly, whilst bending a body panel in the middle of the section means that your standard of driving was not up to scratch.
This is not the Essex club mentality.
