Competitive Safari

Basically it is a course laid out over a few miles (up 5 miles), which is driven in the fastest possible time. Up to 5 attempts can be made and the best three times are used. This requires a specially prepared vehicle roll cage, fire extinguishers, helmets and 5 point seat belts being mandatory.

A days comping is the equivalent of driving carefully for 10 years on the road in terms of punishment given to the vehicle.

If your vehicle has not had anything broken, you haven't been trying hard enough is the general refrain to this event.

The driver and co driver usually have minor bruising around elbows and ribs (from bouncing around inside the vehicle).

This is obviously the most expensive and specialised trial you can compete in.
