Charity Support Activities

We support charities organising fund raising events, such as cross country fun runs, where they need marshals to be mobile. In 2012 the club was awarded the Cancer Research Flame of Hope commendation in recognition of the support the club has provided.

What we do and how to get involved

Since the inception of our Easter Interclub we have supported the Essex Air Ambulance, and that has been running for over 10 years.

Each year we now nominate a charity that we will support with profits from our Annual Easter Interclub, collections for 4×4 rides at shows and takings from raffles at events – currently this continues to be the Essex Air Ambulance.

Our members are called upon by various charity event organisers to assist in the running of the event.

How we support Charity events

We offer support to charity events, the main one being Cancer Research UK, to provide marshals and to assist with setting up, running and packing up events. We also assist the medical teams to move around the event and evacuate any casualties. These typically include fun runs where there are significant numbers of entrants taking part and an offroad vehicle is required.

Our volunteers assist with a wide range of jobs, working alongside the charity staff and volunteers from other organisations such as Raynet and Red Cross.

For our members that volunteer it is a way to get involved and be part of something much bigger, and to do ‘our bit’ to help these charities.

Events that we have supported include:

  • Cancer Research – Race for Life, Chelmsford
  • Cancer Research – Race for Life, Colchester
  • Cancer Research – Race for Life, Brentwood
  • Cancer Research – Race for Life, Epping
  • Cancer Research – Race for Life, Southend
  • Farleigh Hospice – Santa Fun Run
  • Action Medical 100 Mile Bike ride

An Award for supporting.
